The regulatory registry check searches five specialized federal and provincial registries in parallel. Results appear even when a business isn’t incorporated — a charity or MSB may be registered under a different legal name than what appears in corporate registries.

registrationNumber for charities follows the CRA Business Number format: 9-digit BN + RR + 4-digit account (e.g. 123456789RR0001).
Money Services Businesses
Searches FINTRAC’s public registry of registered Money Services Businesses. MSBs are legally required to register with FINTRAC if they deal in foreign exchange, money transfers, virtual currencies, cheque cashing, or prepaid payment products.
Useful for: KYB/AML compliance checks before onboarding a financial services company, verifying a crypto exchange or remittance provider’s registration status.

MSBs often operate under trade names that differ from their legal name. Check alternateNames when the legal name match score is low — the same entity may be registered under a different name.
Cannabis Retail — AGCO (Ontario)
Searches the AGCO’s registry of licensed cannabis retail stores in Ontario.
Useful for: verifying a cannabis retailer holds a valid Ontario licence before entering a commercial relationship or lease agreement.
